Authorities have identified a father of five kids from Beach Park who was killed after being shot 10 times by a man he accidentally rear-ended in Waukegan.

An autopsy showed Dwayne Young, 38, of Beach Park, died from injuries sustained from a gunshot wound, according to Lake County Coroner Dr. Howard Cooper.

Sheldon L. Brown, 33, of Chicago, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, a Class X felony, in connection with Young’s death.

The Waukegan Police Department responded around 11:50 p.m. Friday to the area of 8th Street and Jackson Street for a call of shots fired.

Officers arrived and found a male victim, identified as Young, lying in the street with gunshot wounds next to a white SUV, according to Waukegan Police Commander Edgar Navarro.

Paramedics from the Waukegan Fire Department arrived at the scene and transported Young to an area hospital where he died.

The Waukegan Police Department Criminal Investigations Division (CID) responded and began an investigation.

Detectives believe the shooting was a result of a road rage incident.

Young reportedly rear-ended Brown’s maroon sedan accidentally, and Brown then exited his vehicle and shot the victim, Navarro said.

Family members told ABC 7 Chicago that Young was a father of five kids and worked hard for his family.

The family also said that Brown shot out the tires of Young’s car and then shot him 10 times. The two men did not know each other, police said.

Brown was taken into custody on Saturday in Waukegan without incident. A firearm, identified as a .40 caliber pistol, was also recovered.

Brown remains held in the Lake County jail on a $3 million bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
